Residents views sought on Bishop’s Castle Customer Service Point
Shropshire Council is inviting residents in Bishop’s Castle and the surrounding area to give their views on proposals for their local Customer Service Point.
The consultation runs until Monday 31 August 2015, and will ask residents their thoughts on the proposal to transfer the responsibility for running Bishop’s Castle Customer Service Point to the staff at Enterprise House.
Proposals also include installing a freephone facility to allow customers to access a host of council services, and installing a public computer to enable customers to carry out their business online. The staff at Enterprise House would be on hand for anyone who needs help.
The Customer Service Point is one of several services currently run by Shropshire Council based at Enterprise House in Bishop’s Castle, which is operated by Enterprise South West Shropshire.
Over past months the council has been working closely with key local partners including Enterprise South West Shropshire to develop opportunities and proposals for new ways of delivering the services currently housed in Enterprise House.
Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for resources, finance and support, said:
“We understand the importance of a local face-to-face service for many of our customers who may not be able to use alternative means of doing business such as the telephone or online, or who may need help to use these alternatives.
“The proposed changes will allow us to carry on providing this service for the people of Bishop’s Castle and the surrounding area, extend the opening hours of the service, as well as introducing new ways of doing business with us for those customers who choose this option.
“I really encourage all local residents to get involved and have their say on these proposals.”
Further information, including frequently-asked questions about the proposals, can be found online at shropshire.gov.uk/get-involved, search for “Bishop’s Castle Customer Service Point”.
Residents can comment on the proposals by emailing sati.raju@shropshire.gov.uk or chris.westwood@shropshire.gov.uk. Alternatively residents can also visit the Customer Service Point at Enterprise House to seek further information on how the service will operate, and complete a survey form.
Closing date for responses is Monday 31 August 2015.
