New tenants sought for The Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre
Food production companies are being alerted to the availability of three food production units at The Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.
Two large units, each of 3,000 square feet, will shortly be available due to the success and expansion of existing tenants, who are moving to bigger premises nearby.
One small unit, of 1500 square feet, is also available.
Each unit offers: a large production area; a walk-in cold room; a dry store or high risk production area; allocated parking; connections for gas, electricity, telephones/internet and water, and much more.
The large units offer two offices, two toilets and a changing area; the small unit offers one office and one toilet.
The units also meet the BREEAM ‘very good’ standard and all are designed to meet highest food standards such as the SALSA (Safe & Local Supplier Approval) standard.
The units are currently available to let on ‘easy in, easy out’ terms.
Managed by Shropshire Council, Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre is a state-of-the-art facility providing high-quality fully-equipped food production units and on site business support.
One of only 10 such centres in the UK, the Food Enterprise Centre opened in 2009 and is currently home to 10 tenants including: Smoke and Pickle, Zingh Foods, Oriental Food Express, The Little Round Cake Company, Merangz Limited, Purition, Market Fresh Foods, and Coopers Gourmet Sausage Rolls.
The Centre also has a café which can also be hired out as a demonstrator and taste kitchen for businesses already located in the centre, and for those visiting.
Shropshire Chamber of Commerce also has an office at the Centre, and is able to provide free export advice.
Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for economic development, said:
“The Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre is seen as a national example of best practice in the incubation of small food and drink companies, and it’s great news that two of our tenants are enjoying such success that they now need to move to bigger premises. This offers a great opportunity for other food and drink companies to move into the vacant units.
“I now look forward to welcoming new tenants, and ask anyone who is interested to get in touch.”
