Shropshire Council is happy to welcome the Rain or Shine Theatre Company to the Severn Valley Country Park with their production of Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations” on Friday 23 January 2015.

Dickens’ Victorian novel of wealth, poverty, love, rejection and conflict is one of the most popular classics of English literature, and an enduring tale that has delighted audiences for over 150 years.

This thrilling coming of age tale is one of excitement, amusement, romance and intrigue and is a ‘who is it’, as opposed to a ‘whodunnit’, as our hero Pip tries to discover the identity of the mysterious benefactor who has funded his early years as he develops into a gentleman.

As part of their national winter tour, the Rain or Shine Theatre Company will be visiting the Severn Valley Country Park on Friday 23 January 2015.

Susie Comaish, Visitor Centre Manager, said:

“The Rain or Shine Theatre Company visited the park twice during summer 2014 with their performances of “Treasure Island” and “The Merchant of Venice”.  The Company have been touring with “Great Expectations” since November2014, and have been receiving five-star reviews for their excellent retelling of this classic tale.”

The performance will take place in the visitor centre, which will open for refreshments from 6pm.  The performance starts at 7pm and finishes by 9pm, and a 20-minute interval is included.

The performance is suitable for ages from 7 upwards. Booking is essential to avoid disappointment.  Tickets are £10 adults, £6 children.  Tickets are available by calling the visitor centre on 01746 781192, or contacting Rain or Shine direct on 0330 660 0541.
