Illustrated talk about wildlife at Severn Valley Country Park on 13 November
Shropshire birder Jim Almond is visiting Severn Valley Country Park near Alveley to give an illustrated talk about the varied wildlife around Shropshire. The talk is on Thursday 13 November 2014 from 7.30pm to 9pm.
The talk looks at the birds, butterflies, dragonflies and other interesting guests which are found at several key reserves and sites within Shropshire.
The talk travels around the whole of the county, starting in the north with Whixall Moss, Wood Lane, The Meres and Prees Heath. It then visits the South Shropshire Hills, and in particular the Longmynd, Catherton Common and Titterstone Clee. Chelmarsh and The Wrekin bring the focus to central Shropshire, before looking at the wildlife found at Venus Pool near Shrewsbury.
The county holds significant rare insects such as the Silver-studded Blue butterfly and Keeled Skimmer Dragonfly: you will find out where and when to look. The bird life also is diverse, and you can discover where to see Red Kites, amongst other birds.
Susie Comaish, visitor centre manager, said:
“The talk combines Jim’s two passions of wildlife and photography. Jim’s photographs are spectacular and bring the local wildlife into the spotlight.”
Tickets are adults £5, children £3, and they include a hot drink and a slice of cake. To book your place please call the visitor centre on 01746 781192.
