Council invites local people to see what’s on offer at Helena Lane in Ludlow

Shropshire Council is inviting local people to come and see what is on offer at Helena Lane in Ludlow as part of a special Open Day on Friday 5 December 2014.

The event, from 1pm until 4.30pm, will showcase the services provided within the building, as well as the space and equipment available.

The council has been working with various organisations over the last few months to ensure that services and community resources are available to local people at Helena Lane.

This has meant that the building now houses, amongst others: the Vision Technology and Training Shropshire assessment centre, an NHS memory clinic and fortnightly People2People clinics.

On the day people will also be able to see and speak with other service providers based elsewhere, including: the South Shropshire Youth Forum, Station Drive surgery, Rockspring and Oak Farm.  Santa will be making an appearance too.

A light lunch and refreshments will be available throughout the day, provided by Hands Together Ludlow.

Lee Chapman, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for adult services – transformation and safeguarding, said:

“Helena Lane is a fantastic building which has lots to offer the local community.  Please come along to the open day and see what it can offer you.”

The building will also host a “Good Companions Lunch Club”, organised in partnership with Healthy Friendships, Hands Together Ludlow and Helena Lane daycare team.  This event is on Tuesday 18 November 2014, providing a friendly space in which local people who experience dementia can catch up with friends or meet new ones.
