Shropshire Voluntary and Community Sector Assembly showcase event
Fifty of Shropshire’s voluntary organisations will come together on Tuesday 25 November 2014 to showcase their services and the support they offer to local people.
The Voluntary and Community Sector Assembly (VCSA) showcase event will be held at the Council Chamber, Shirehall, Shrewsbury.
VCSA has organised the event on behalf of its members. The Assembly has over 300 members, and provides a mechanism for local groups and voluntary organisations to work with each other and with the public sector.
Jackie Jeffrey, Chair of VCSA, said:
“We have organised the showcase to provide an opportunity for people to find out more about Shropshire’s voluntary sector services. The event also provides workshop sessions which will illustrate how voluntary organisations work together to deliver key services in Shropshire.”
Community, charitable, voluntary and other organisations which will there on the day include: Victim Support, Shropshire Disability Network, Energize, Feather Perfect Falconry CIC , Headway Shropshire, Carers Support Service, Age UK, Bromford Support, Taking Part and many more. A free Dementia Friends information session will also be run on the day.
Gwilym Butler, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for leisure, libraries & culture, said:
“We want to make sure that people understand the range of support available in Shropshire. We would encourage people to come along and ‘shop around’; visitors can spend as much or as little time as they like browsing the stands and talking to people from the different organisations.”
The event will run from 10am until 2pm. It is anticipated that those attending the event will predominantly be public sector workers, commissioners of services, and Shropshire communities’ elected representatives.
