Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery joins BeActive leisure discount scheme

Members of Shropshire Council’s BeActive leisure discount scheme can now enjoy visits to Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery at a reduced price.

Members get a pound off the normal admission prices, and concessionary members can visit for half price.

The BeActive scheme was started to encourage greater participation in sport and recreation and is accepted at many venues across the county including those run by Shropshire Community Leisure Trust and Teme Leisure, as well as the annual passport at Ironbridge Gorge museums.

Membership is valid for a full year and costs just £5 for adult members, £2.50 for seniors and under-18s. For concessionary members who qualify through being in receipt of certain benefits the membership rate is just £2.50 for adults and seniors and £1.25 for under-18s. Visitors and other people living outside the county are welcome to join the scheme and take advantage of the available discounts.

And Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery is not only accepting BeActive membership cards but also selling them too – with staff at the Visitor Information Centre able to help prospective members with more information about the BeActive scheme.

Tina Woodward, Shropshire Council’s deputy Cabinet member responsible for Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery, said:

“This is a well timed initiative as it coincides with the start of our major autumn exhibition ‘Exposed – The Body in Art’ which opens on Monday 15 September.
“I would encourage anyone who is already a BeActive member to take the opportunity to visit the exhibition and the rest of our wonderful Museum at a discounted admission price.
“I would also like to welcome new members in to the BeActive scheme who can obtain their cards at the Visitor Information Centre on the ground floor.”
