The Leader of Shropshire Council is to write to the Chief Executive of mobile phone company EE to express his concerns about the poor signal quality experienced by EE customers in many parts of Shropshire.

Councillor Keith Barrow took to twitter today (Tuesday 9 September) to express his frustration with the EE signal in his home town of Oswestry.

And with many other people across the county suffering similar problems, he says he will be contacting EE’s top man Olaf Swantee to make him aware of the difficulties facing their Shropshire customers.

Keith Barrow said:

“The poor quality of the EE signal has been a problem in my area for a long time, but I know it’s not just a problem in my part of Shropshire, and I know many other people across the county share my anger and frustration.

“I’ll therefore be writing to Olaf Swantee, chief executive of EE, to express my anger, and the anger of hundreds of other Shropshire residents who just want to be able to use their mobile phone.

“Mobile phones are now a vital and important part of everyday life for people, especially those in rural areas, who need their phones for business, to contact family and friends, to browse the internet, and more.

“It’s therefore hugely important for local people and the local economy that people are able to use their mobiles whenever they want and need to.

“I’m looking forward to receiving EE’s response on this and very much hope that they will apologise to their customers in Shropshire, and pledge to sort this problem.”
