Outdoor theatre production of “The Merchant of Venice” at Severn Valley Country Park
Severn Valley Country Park, part of Shropshire Council’s outdoor recreation service, is happy to announce an open air theatre production of William Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice” on Wednesday 18 June 2014.
Severn Valley Country Park will be host to the Rain or Shine Theatre Company, a touring theatre company with 16 years of experience of bringing entertainment straight to your doorstep. As part of their summer tour of the country, they will be stopping off at the park to perform “The Merchant of Venice”. The play weaves a web of romantic intrigue, cunning duplicity and comic foolery as it follows the lives of the merchants who trade and barter in the marketplace of Venice.
Visitors are invited to bring a picnic (and their own seating or picnic rug) so they can enjoy the performance in the beautiful surroundings of the Severn Valley. The teashop in the visitor centre will also be open for refreshments so you can pop in and get an ice cream during the interval.
The show starts at 7.30pm and visitors are invited to arrive from 6.30pm onwards to get the perfect spot to watch the performance. The entertainment ends at 9.45pm.
Susie Comaish, Visitor Centre Manager, said:
“We are very excited to have the Rain or Shine Theatre Company returning to the park for a second year. Their performances always transport the audience into the heart of the story they are retelling. It will definitely be a very enjoyable evening’s entertainment.”
Tickets are available to buy now from the visitor centre or by calling 01746 781192. Tickets can also be bought online from www.rainorshine.co.uk or they can be purchased on the night.
Adults £13, concessions £11, children £6.
The show is suitable for age six and upwards.
