Tenants invited to come along to annual general meeting

News from our partners Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing

Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing tenants and residents are invited to come along to the Tenant Working Group’s (TWG) annual general meeting on Thursday 12 June 2014 at The Centre, Oak Street, Oswestry from 6pm to 7.30pm.

The group are committed to making a positive difference for Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing tenants, residents and leaseholders, by helping to address local issues, increase tenants satisfaction and create a sense of community spirit.   The TWG have made significant contributions to their local communities, which include:

  • helping to empower tenants to influence decisions and challenge the performance of Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing
  • holding open meetings in the evening covering ‘hot topics’ that affect tenants and residents
  • providing welcome packs for new Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing tenants in the Oswestry area (with funding from the National Lottery’s Awards for All grant).

The event will also be a celebration of the TWG’s achievements from the last 12 months, and tenants will be able to hear from the Chair of Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing’s Board, Nicki Barker.  Housing staff will also be available to answer questions.

Margaret Smith, chair of the group, said:

“The Tenant Working Group’s annual general meeting is a great opportunity for tenants to learn about what we do.  It’s also a chance to find out about the many benefits of being a part of this friendly group.  Come along to hear about the work we do to help improve the service provided by Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, and the difference we make to local communities.

“I really would encourage tenants and residents to come along on 12 June.  There will be free refreshments, and transport can be provided.”

The TWG represents the interests of Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing tenants and acts as a hub for advice and friendly support for those who need it.  Membership is open to any tenants or residents of Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing/Shropshire Council.
