Residents encouraged to provide feedback on proposed plans for Oswestry Hub

Shropshire Council is asking people who use the Oswestry Hub and library to provide feedback on proposed plans to enhance the service and layout of the community hub.

The consultation, which continues until Friday 30 May 2014, is one of several consultations undertaken to ensure that services provided at the community hub meet the needs of local residents.

The proposed plans are on display at the library and people can comment by completing an opinion slip at reception.  You can also view the plans online here and email your views to consultation@shropshire.gov.uk.

The consultation is part of a wider review by the council of all of its buildings and assets, to make sure they are being used in ways that have the most impact in meeting people’s needs.  The work is also looking at how the council offers residents access to services, and explores ways to give our customers more convenient and flexible options for contacting and dealing with the council.

The council have been working with interested parties including the Friends of Oswestry Library and Oswestry Town Council, and continue to involve all parties and people who use the services in any developments at the Oswestry community hub and library.

Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for resources, finance and support, said:

“Shropshire Council want to improve the range of services to local residents, and give people the convenience of accessing services in one place, rather than going to different locations, which is of particular benefit to vulnerable people.

“We received many positive comments during the previous consultation; however, we need to ensure that local people and partners continue to share their thoughts on any proposed plans.”

Gwilym Butler, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for leisure, libraries and culture, added:

“We very much welcome feedback and ideas on how we can improve the ways we are delivering services, whilst ensuring that at the same time we continue to meet the needs of library visitors.

“I would urge local residents to take part in the consultation and share their thoughts on these proposals.  The feedback from the consultation will be used to inform any changes made and help enhance the service and layout.”
