Eureka! Find out how your business could benefit from tax incentives
Businesses across Shropshire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire can find out how they could benefit from tax incentives at an event in early June.
The Tax Credit workshop, open to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), is being hosted at the Kindle Centre, Asda Supermarket, Belmont Road, Hereford, on Tuesday 3 June 2014 from 9am to 12.30pm.
Businesses will be able to find out the latest tax situation from Chris Walklett, Business and International Tax Partner, Bishop Fleming Accountants, who will explain the current tax initiatives available to SMEs.
The free workshop will also include:
- Enterprise Resource Planning (Including MIS)
- A more efficient small SME operation (including the virtual office and use of open-source software)
- Using the Internet for your marketing needs, and new development in crowdsourcing
- Opportunities for additional support and funding available.
Following the workshop, businesses will benefit from an impartial business review undertaken by the University of Worcester Business School. Revenue grants are also available to assist with the implementation cost of recommendations to improve business performance.
The event is being organised by University of Worcester in partnership with Shropshire Council, and is one of many held across the region as part of the European-funded Eureka! Moment project. The project runs across Shropshire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire, and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The half day information workshops are open to SMEs across the four council areas that supply goods and services directly to other businesses. The workshops are designed to help colleagues think differently about their business, be more competitive in their market, and win (and more importantly, keep) new customers.
Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for business growth, said:
“The European-funded Eureka! Moment project is another great example of how we can support local businesses to grow and flourish. The workshop will include a briefing on the Eureka! Moment project, future workshops and free consultancy, as well as opportunities to apply for grant finance to support your business innovation.
“I would strongly encourage as many SMEs as possible to come along to this really informative event.”
Innovation is not just about ‘research’ and ‘new product design’, but about demonstrating how doing things differently from your competitors could attract tax breaks of up to 225%.
Kevin Nash from CAS Systems, who attended a previous workshop run in Worcester, was very impressed with the event, saying it was “Well presented and very informative. I am now filled with new ideas”, adding that “taking time out of the day-to-day business really makes you think about your business differently”.
