Council and Environment Agency take action to remove excess rubbish from waste site

Shropshire Council and the Environment Agency have been praised for their quick and professional response in resolving an excess waste issue at a local skip site in Ludlow.

The council’s public protection officers had visited the site following several complaints from residents about unsightly mess, smell and pest issues at the location.

Ludlow Skip Hire Ltd had recently taken over the waste transfer site on Temeside, which is licensed to store 66 tonnes of waste.  When inspecting the site, officers had noticed a high level of waste on the premises, and on further investigation from the Environment Agency, found there was considerable more volume than their licence permitted.

As the current owners had inherited the excess waste from the previous owners, they have worked to sort the waste and remove it from site to meet their licence conditions, with support from the public protection team and the Environment Agency.
