Time is running out to book a place for you and your business at the 2014 annual Shropshire Business Summit, which takes places on Monday 19 May 2014 at Shrewsbury Town’s Greenhous Meadow, from 5.30pm to 8pm.

This year’s summit will enable businesses to put forward their ideas to make sure Shropshire Council is doing everything it can to boost economic growth.

Tickets must be booked by 5pm on Wednesday 14 May 2014.  Please click here to book your place.  A light buffet will be available on arrival.

Keith Barrow, Leader of Shropshire Council, will open the summit and speak about the challenges and opportunities facing Shropshire Council.

Professor Tim Wheeler, Vice Chancellor of Chester University, will then speak about what the new university in Shrewsbury will deliver for the local economy.

Clive Wright, Chief Executive of Shropshire Council, and Mandy Thorn, Chair of Shropshire Business Board, will speak respectively on the redesign of Shropshire Council’s economic growth services, and the success of the Economic Growth Strategy since last year.

Keith Barrow said:

“The green shoots of recovery are being seen by some, but times are still tough for many businesses across Shropshire.  This year’s summit will help inform our work to keep Shropshire’s economy moving in the right direction over the coming years, and provide a chance to hear the latest on the council’s re-design of our economic growth and business support service.

“The annual business summit is a really important event in Shropshire’s business calendar and has always been extremely popular.  I encourage all local business people to come along and make their contribution count.”

Mandy Thorn, Chair of the Shropshire Business Board said:

“So much has been achieved by delivering many key projects in the Shropshire Growth Strategy this is a good time to highlight these and also new projects lined up in the Marches LEP Local Growth Fund Bid.”
