Meet your Police and Crime Commissioner and Safer Neighbourhood Team in Shropshire
News from our partners Police and Crime Commissioner for West Mercia
People in Shropshire are being invited to meet their Police and Crime Commissioner, Bill Longmore, his Deputy, Barrie Sheldon and officers from West Mercia Police as part of a special event to be held on Thursday 27 March 2014 in Shrewsbury.
The event will be held in The Square in Shrewsbury from 2pm until 4.30pm.
It is one of a series of engagement events to take place across West Mercia over the coming months, designed to showcase what the Police and Crime Commissioner and the force are doing in the area to tackle crime and keep people safe, as well as address any operational policing issues people may have.
Bill and Barrie, alongside the Policing Area Superintendent, representatives from the force’s Safer Neighbourhoods Team, the Community Ambassador Co-ordinator and the Community Ambassador for Shropshire, will be on hand at the mobile police station in The Square to answer questions, talk about the role of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and provide more information on force and local initiatives.
Barrie Sheldon said:
“This is our fourth engagement event. The previous ones held in Worcester, Bewdley and Kidderminster have proved to be a great success. They have enabled us to really connect with local people and talk about the things that matter to them.
“We are now offering people in Shropshire the same opportunity – to come and meet me, the Safer Neighbourhoods Team and our Community Ambassador to find out more about my role and what is happening in their area.
“Over the last year Bill and I have met with hundreds of people, listened to their concerns and represented their views. These events are just another way of ensuring that we continue to do this so that we can provide people with a voice in policing matters.”
Superintendent James Tozer said:
“There is so much to be gained from meeting people face to face. We have a wide range of places and events at which our staff meet and engage with the public, and this is a great opportunity to have your say and to discuss some of the great things about living working and growing up in Shropshire, as well as the opportunity to discuss things that you feel might not be going so well for you.”
