Shropshire Council staff and councillors will gather in the centre quadrangle at Shirehall, Shrewsbury on Monday 11 November 2013 at 11am to remember those who lost their lives in the service of their country.

In particular they will be commemorating council staff who died during the two World Wars.  Councillor Malcolm Pate, the Chairman of the Council, will lay a wreath on the Memorial Stones which commemorate them.

The Last Post will be played by a bugler from the Royal Irish Regiment.  After the two minutes’ silence, prayers of remembrance will be led by Father Mark Chadwick, the Vicar of St Chad’s.  The Act of Homage will be read by the Chairman.

All councillors and staff will be invited to attend the service, or to observe two minutes silence at their workplace.

The Chairman will also be joined by a number of special guests, including the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Col Edmund Thewles OBE DL, Honorary Alderman of the County, and representatives from the Armed Forces and the Royal British Legion.
