Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing hosted a series of coffee mornings on Friday 26 September 2013 to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The events were part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, a nationwide event which encouraged people and organisations to host a coffee morning, with all the donations made going to the charity.

Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing raised a total of £600 from the five fundraising events which were held at the sheltered housing schemes at Monkmoor Court in Oswestry, Kingsway Court and Fairfields Court in Whitchurch, Cedar Close in St Martins, and the Shropshire Housing Alliance Office in Market Drayton.

The coffee mornings included a variety of money-raising activities including cake stalls, raffles, bingo, and lots more.

Chris Leek, Community Support Services Manager at Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, said:

“The Macmillan coffee mornings were a great success, and I am delighted that we have raised £600 to support a very worthy cause.  As well as bringing both tenants and local residents together to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, the event was a great way to get the local community together to socialise and have fun.  I would also like to thank our staff for all their hard work in making this happen.”
