Ludlow bus service information

With effect from 2 September 2013, Ludlow Town Service and the Park and Ride service are being operated by R&B Travel on a fully commercial basis.

As such, the routing, frequency and fares are being determined by the operator with no input or contract from Shropshire Council.

The council is aware of some local comments being made about the service and has given the following advice.

Claire Wild, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“We have been speaking to local councillors about their issues with the Ludlow bus service, and we would advise anyone with concerns to contact the Traffic Commissioner for the West Midlands and Wales, which is the official body responsible for ensuring commercial bus services are operated to an acceptable standard.  We will also pass on any comments we get directly to the Traffic Commissioner.

“To clarify, councils are unable to take legal action against a bus operator due to complaints about poor service, they can only step in if a service is not actually provided.  We want to see a good quality bus service provided in Ludlow, and will pass any comments or evidence onto the Traffic Commissioner for the West Midlands and Wales.”
