Now that essential work to strengthen Beech House Canal Bridge (known locally as ‘Red Bridge’), which carries the Ellesmere to Tetchill road over the Shropshire Union Canal alongside Ellesmere Marina, has started, Shropshire Council is holding a further scheme-related public meeting on Monday 8 July 2013.

The purpose of the meeting is to enable everyone affected by the diversion, which has had to be put in place because of the temporary closure of the bridge, to review the way in which it is working, and to suggest for consideration any improvements or alterations which may improve traffic flow or minimise inconvenience.

The meeting is at Welsh Frankton Village Hall starting at 5.30pm on Monday 8 July 2013.

Claire Wild, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“It is appreciated that the bridge closure will be causing some inconvenience, and I would encourage people to attend the  meeting to let us know how we may be able to keep this to a minimum.  In the meantime, everyone involved with the scheme will do all that they reasonably can to reopen the bridge as soon as possible.”
