This Sunday (16 June) a fantastic new running event is being held at Severn Valley Country Park. Shropshire Council Outdoor Recreation Service will be holding the first ever Severn Valley Trail Race starting from the Visitor Centre in Alveley near Bridgnorth.

The multi-terrain run will take participants on a 5km journey through the park’s wonderful scenery. There will be sections through the woodlands, meadows and along the banks of the River Severn.  Along the route, runners will be challenged by some steep climbs and – to the delight of the cross-country enthusiast – some muddy sections.

Edward Andrews, Shropshire Council parks and countryside sites officer, said:

“This will be a fantastic race and the whole route will be off road. I would encourage people to bring all the family down to the park. People who are not running can enjoy a coffee and a slice of cake in the tearoom or take the children on our natural play area.”

It costs only £8 to enter on the day (if there are places left) and prizes will be awarded for the winners in each age category. Registration starts at 9am for a race start at 11am.

The event is kindly sponsored by Highley Manuscript Pen Company and Wenlock Water. For more details you can contact the park on 01746 781192.
