If you are a resident of Sandpits Estate in Ludlow, an estate clean up day is being held on Wednesday 29 May 2013.

A key feature of the day will be to make it as simple as possible for residents to get rid of unwanted items, including bulky items which households would normally pay to have removed.

Between 11am and 3pm glass, plastic, metal, wood and clothes will be accepted at Milton Road, Sandpits Estate, Ludlow, with skips available for anything that cannot be recycled.

Sue Perry, community housing officer at South Shropshire Housing Association, said:

“Many of the families that I work with have items in their house and garden that they no longer use.  To get them disposed of costs money; on 29 May they can get rid of these for free.

If you need assistance with getting items to the skip, South Shropshire Furniture Scheme have donated their van and two workers to come and collect your items.  This will have to be booked with staff at Milton Road at 10.30am on the day or by contacting myself or Mike Cotton on 0300 303 1190.”

Tracey Huffer, Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow East, said:

“At the last Recycle Day on the estate, two skips were filled and two vans full of items were recycled by South Shropshire Furniture Scheme.  So it is a good opportunity to have a spring clean and be able to easily get rid of your unwanted things.”

During the day there will be community litter picks arranged by Shropshire Council’s streetscene team and Ludlow Pride of Place.

There will be arts activities for children, and refreshments available from Grow, Cook Share.
