Bridgnorth’s annual History Week

The annual Bridgnorth History Week will be held at Bridgnorth Library from today (Monday 20 May) until Saturday 25 May 2013. 

This year sees a packed programme including two guided walks of historic Bridgnorth, a talk by Susannah Stapleton on using the Internet for family and local history research, and a talk by Bob Bibby on his novel “Lavington’s Hole”, which features the fate of the More children of Larden Hall.  Pipe maker Rem M Key will demonstrate and talk about traditional clay pipe making on Tuesday 21 May. 

Those keen to discover more about their family and local history will be able to find out more with the help of our Local History Centre volunteers, who will hold drop in sessions throughout the week, during normal library opening hours. 

Gwilym Butler, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for leisure, libraries and culture, said:

“This annual event gives local people and visitors a chance to take a look into the rich history of this part of Shropshire.  I would like to personally thank the Local History Centre volunteers who will be on hand that week to guide you through all the information available.”
