Bridge near Church Stretton due for repair work

Related topics: Uncategorized

A minor road near Church Stretton will be closed for up to four weeks for essential repair work to be carried out to a damaged bridge.

Westhope Culvert, which carries the road over the brook between Westhope and Seifton Batch, will be closed to allow the necessary repair works to be done on the damaged bridge parapet and deck slab.

The road will be closed at the bridge on Monday 27 May 2013 and work is anticipated to take up to four weeks to complete. The works will be carried out by Ringway on behalf of Shropshire Council.

Unfortunately for the work to be carried out safely, and due to the narrow width of the road, it is not possible to keep the bridge open for vehicles to use while the repairs are carried out. There will be access for pedestrians, cyclists and horses to pass while the work is carried out.

When the road is closed there will be a signed diversion route taking traffic around through Westhope, Lower Dinchhope to Greenway Cross along the B4368 to New House and back up to Seifton Batch, and also in reverse.
