A former semi-finalist on BBC TV’s The Apprentice will be visiting Oswestry on 14 and 15 May 2013 to offer expert advice to young people about setting up their own business.

Adam Corbally – who starred on the show in 2012 – is a professional guest speaker, motivational coach and serial entrepreneur, managing a series of successful businesses and brands in the UK.

On Tuesday 14 May Adam will be the guest speaker at a special meeting of the Start Up Oswestry Club for 18-30 year olds.

To be held at the Walford and North Shropshire College from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, the meeting is free to attend but with only 80 places available advance booking is essential, at: http://itsnotwhatyoudo.eventbrite.co.uk/.

Adam’s presentation to the Start Up club aims to encourage young people unsure about their working future to consider making their own job by converting their skills and talents into a business.

The following morning (Wednesday 15 May) Adam will present the award for Best Local Council Market 2013 – recently awarded at the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) conference – to the Oswestry market committee, followed by a ‘meet and greet’ with local traders. Adam is visiting Oswestry Market as part of this year’s national Love Your Local Market campaign.

Then, on the afternoon of Wednesday 15 May, he will again be at the Guildhall talking to pupils from the Marches School, Oswestry School and Walford College.

Mark Pembleton, business and enterprise manager with Shropshire Council, said:

“We are delighted to be working with Oswestry Town Council on this important initiative to boost the number of people starting their own business in Shropshire, and that the Town Council have been able to arrange for Adam to come and talk to the young people of Oswestry and north Shropshire to encourage them to do this.”

The Start Up Oswestry club is run by Shropshire Council, Oswestry Town Council and Shropshire Enterprise Partnership to offer young business-minded people free information, support and access to finance.

Open to people aged 18-30 who are thinking of setting up their own business, the club has been holding monthly meetings since October 2012 – and 31 people have attended the first six sessions.
