Shropshire Professional Network event on 24 April

The Shropshire Professional Network (SPN) is hosting their third networking and skills event on Wednesday 24 April 2013 at Shrewsbury Food Enterprise Centre.  The event will run 6pm to 7pm, and focus on how to sell yourself and your work in 30 seconds, and forging new working relationships.   

A human resources professional will lead the sessions, giving advice on how to make an instant impression.  The event, which is free, is aimed at young professionals interested in meeting new people as well as improving their skills.  There will be an opportunity for anyone to directly ask questions.  Afterwards, everyone is invited along for a drink in town. 

The last SPN event saw Tom Roericht, Managing Director of ip&e, talk about his experience in a number of top companies.  Following the talk, attendees were invited to ask any questions they had about his career choices, his tips for starting your career and his own strengths and weaknesses.  The feedback from those at the event highlighted this Q&A session as being especially useful to them. 

The SPN is run by a number of graduates at Shropshire Council to help young professionals improve their skills, and seeks to give those starting out a network of contacts to help jump-start their career.  The SPN aims to establish a network of contacts for its members across Shropshire, and develop partnerships with local businesses and projects.  Membership provides a great opportunity for young professionals to set up business links and make contacts in various sectors.

Directions to the SPN event 

From the roundabout on the ring road where the A49 and A53 meet (BP garage with Spar forecourt), take the Battlefield Link Road (A5124) towards Ellesmere.  At the first roundabout turn left into Battlefield Way.  At the next roundabout turn left into Vanguard Way.  Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre is the first building on the left.  Parking is available.  The reception is at the front of the building.
