Family fun afternoon in Church Stretton – this Friday

Shropshire Council is reminding people that arts and crafts, sports and games, face painting and nail art are among the activities on offer at a family fun afternoon in Church Stretton this Friday as part of the Easter holiday offer.

The chance to explore the youth bus, the police mobile road safety outreach vehicle and a fire engine will add to the choice of activities available at the event, organised by Shropshire Council, at Church Stretton Leisure Centre on Friday 12 April 2013.

Visitors can also bring along their bike for a safety check with Plush Hill Cycles, enter a prize draw, and children can play on the bouncy castle during the afternoon, which runs from 1pm to 4pm.

At the same time, the event provides the opportunity to find out more about work to develop services in Church Stretton – and how to get involved.

Lisa Bedford, senior community action officer, said:

“A range of organisations have come together to ensure there will be a great choice of activities on offer for all ages and interests at the fun afternoon.

“Everyone has been fantastic in supporting this event, and I’d like to say a big thank you to all the organisations which are taking part.

“The afternoon also gives us another chance to talk to people about new ways of delivering services which we are exploring together with the community in Church Stretton.

“We want to hear from as many people as possible about what is important to them in the town.  We are urging people to tell us if the think the way services are currently delivered is the best use of time and money, where improvements could be made, and if they would be keen to be involved as the work progresses.”
