Shropshire Archives evening events
Shropshire Council’s Shropshire Archives will be running a series of evening workshops on Thursdays this summer to introduce aspects of the varied collections held by the service.
The subjects covered will range from parish and Quarter Sessions records, to how to look after your own archives and photographs. Parish and Quarter Sessions are of particular interest and importance to anyone tracing their family history.
The workshops will offer rare opportunities to see and learn about the documents, covering many centuries of Shropshire’s past, helped by staff and volunteers at Shropshire Archives.
The informal workshops will run from 6pm-7pm on selected Thursday evenings from April to September, and will cost £3 a session. The first session will be on Thursday 4 April 2013. Places can be booked in advance, or you can turn up on the day, although numbers are limited.
In order to accommodate these events, the search room at Shropshire Archives will close at 5pm. However the reading room, including access to the Internet on the public computers, will stay open until 8pm as usual.
More details and a full programme of the events can be found online at www.shropshirearchives.org.uk or our Facebook page. If you have a query or wish for more information on any of these events, please contact us on 01743 255350 , or via email at archives@shropshire.gov.uk or through Facebook.
