County’s voice is heard at Downing Street

Shropshire Council’s Leader, Keith Barrow, yesterday (Thursday 7 March 2013) visited 10 Downing Street, ensuring that Shropshire people are represented at the highest level. 

Councillor Barrow visited Prime Minister David Cameron’s residence as part of his vision to get Shropshire’s voice heard at the highest level.  Amongst other things, rural communities, job creation and the economy as a whole were at the heart of the conversation, with Councillor Barrow discussing the issues that matter most to Shropshire people. 

Visits such as this put the county at the heart of national decision-making, ensuring that things affecting local people on a daily basis are included when ministers set new policies and legislation. 

Councillor Barrow welcomed the chance to visit the capital on behalf of Shropshire, saying: 

“It is always an honour to visit Downing Street, and is the perfect opportunity to get Shropshire’s issues raised to the country’s decision-makers.  I am totally committed to promoting our beautiful county to key ministers and policy-makers, and will continue to tell our story.  Attending events like this are so important, as it really is the best way to ensure our voice is heard at the highest level.  I truly feel that we can inform the key decisions that are made centrally, helping us to improve the quality of life for those who matter most to me, the people who live in, work in and visit Shropshire.”
