Spot the signs of spring at Cheswardine celebrations

Related topics: Community

A spring celebration will be held in Cheswardine for families with young children to enjoy a range of activities and find out more about the support Shropshire Council’s Sure Start children’s centre services can offer.

The event will take place at the village hall in Podmore Road on Tuesday 19 February 2013, from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Parents can seek information and advice from children’s centre support workers about children’s centre membership and the other groups and services available in their local area.

The activities will include spring-time crafts, story and rhymetime, and a nature walk to spot the signs of spring.  Healthy snacks and cold drinks will be provided during the celebration.  Older siblings are welcome to come along with their families.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for health and well-being, said:

“Children’s centres provide opportunities to enjoy fun activities which support children’s learning, development and encourage healthy lifestyles, meet with other parents, socialise and share experiences, as well as gain advice and information to support parents and children’s well-being.

“We would urge families with young children to come along to the spring celebration.  It is set to be a great morning, and is a chance to find out more about what children’s centres can offer.”
