Share food for thought on Good Eggs

Have you got a new idea about how to bring people together in Oswestry to enjoy good food and company?

Anyone who would be keen to share their thoughts on ways to help people both eat well and make new friends is urged to come along to an event organised by Shropshire Council this week.

The ‘Good Eggs’ get-together will take place at the Cambrian Room, Oswestry Memorial Hall, on Thursday 14 February 2013 from 11am to 1pm.

People are asked to bring something tasty for lunch, to share with the other good eggs, while discussing ideas.

Good Eggs is being developed by the council to encourage people to come together and meet new people in their area, enjoying food together along the way.  It is at an early stage, and the ideas of the people of Oswestry will be key to making Good Eggs a success.

Some early ideas include:

  • people meeting together to share food at a community venue
  • people meeting up to cook and eat in the home
  • matching people to take turns in cooking for each other and eating together
  • matching people with cooking skills and the time to prepare meals to those who either need help in preparing meals, or lack the time to do so

Keith Barrow, Leader of Shropshire Council and local councillor for Oswestry South, said:

“We would love to see lots of people come along to this week’s ideas event; we can’t wait to start shaping ideas with you for new ways to bring people together around food.

“With everyone sharing their insights we hope to encourage some great opportunities for people to share skills, time, support, company, ingredients, and to eat well together.”

Ideas from this week’s event will be developed and prototyped in south Oswestry, with a view to branching out across Oswestry after exploring what works best for people in the area.
