Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins and Weston Rhyn LJC on 26 February
More than a dozen organisations and groups will share in the final allocation of grants by Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins and Weston Rhyn Local Joint Committee (LJC).
The proposals are listed for the next meeting, scheduled to take place in All Saints Church Hall, Gobowen, on Tuesday 26 February 2013 at 7pm.
David Lloyd, LJC chairman, said:
“We are pleased to have been able to assist and offer support to a wide range of groups and organisations that play an important role in our communities.
“These have included help for those working with young people, older people, community groups and special interest groups. Support for the Oswestry Area First Responders helped them to purchase vital kit for new recruits, St Martins Centre Book Box Scheme encourages reading, and we also provided funding to support Jubilee events in the villages.”
The LJC has worked closely with parish councils and others to introduce road safety measures, such as the pedestrian crossing in Gobowen, assisting a local version of ‘meals on wheels’, and community fun and sporting events.
David Lloyd added:
“Meetings held in the three villages over the last four years have also provided a platform for communities to have a say on key issues like policing and health.”
The programme for the 26 February meeting includes an update on the Cambrian Heritage Railway, the latest on access to broadband, and a progress reports on the schools reorganisation in Ifton and St Martins.
Information will also be provided for those wishing to stand as candidates in the forthcoming county, town and parish councils in May.
