Artists and community and voluntary art organisations are invited to attend an Arts and Festivals Network Event on Wednesday 30 January 2013 at The Hive, Shrewsbury from 6.30pm.

The event will feature a number of presentations, including:-

  • An update on the development of the new Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery.  The presentation, by Adrian Plant, Shropshire Council’s exhibitions officer, will include information on artist commissions linked to the new museum and art gallery, and the Thinking Path Project, a project commissioned by the museums service to explore the life and ideas of Charles Darwin.
  • Meet and hear about the work of ‘re:collect’, an emerging Shropshire based artists’ group invited to join an artists’ professional development project, exploring contemporary art in a heritage context as part of the development towards the new Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery.
  • From 7.30pm, guests will be invited to Rowley’s House for an artist-led tour of Object Lessons.  Object Lessons is a contemporary art exhibition, inspired by museum collections.  A first group show for re:collect, the exhibition will be showing at Rowley’s House until Saturday 16 March 2013.

Throughout the evening artists will have the opportunity to network and exchange ideas and information.
