Stuck for a gift idea for a biker this Christmas?
With Christmas less than two weeks away, many of us are struggling to think of ideas for those hard-to-buy-for friends and relatives. However, if you’re looking for a gift for a motorcyclist or moped rider, the Safer Roads Partnership in West Mercia has the perfect solution: a gift voucher for their Take Control motorcycle skills course.
Take Control is the Safer Roads Partnership’s motorcycle skills enhancement course for bikers who want to brush up on their biking skills, gain more confidence on their bike or become a better rider in preparation for their full test. The course can be taken over half a day or as a full day course, and is tailored to the needs of individual riders, so is suitable for beginners and experienced riders alike.
Gift vouchers for the course are now available, so could be the ideal Christmas present for riders of mopeds, scooters or motorbikes. Vouchers can be bought for half day courses at £25 each or full day courses for only £50. As the course is subsidised by the partnership – with support from NHS Worcestershire Public Health and the TTC Group – it offers great value when compared with the usual cost of motorcycle or moped skills training.
Anna Higgins, Communications Manager at the Safer Roads Partnership, said:
“Our Take Control gift vouchers are a great Christmas present idea if you know a motorcyclist – whether they’ve got a large bike or a smaller moped or scooter. The course offers them the opportunity to enhance their biking skills, improve their own safety on the roads, and pick up a few new techniques and skills.
“Gift vouchers are valid for six months, which means the course could be ideal preparation for motorcyclists at the start of the new biking season in spring 2013 when they’re dusting off their bikes and getting back out on the roads.”
Take Control courses are delivered by RMT Motorcycle Training and are available across the West Mercia area, which includes Shropshire, Herefordshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Worcestershire.
To buy a gift voucher or to find out more about the course, please call RMT on 01527 500333 or email takecontrol@rmtnet.co.uk.
To be eligible for the Take Control course, motorcyclists must be over the age of 16 years and own their own moped, scooter or motorbike and have adequate protective clothing. Moped riders must have passed their CBT (Compulsory Basic Training).
The Safer Roads Partnership is part of West Mercia Police, and works in partnership with the four local highway authorities in West Mercia (Shropshire Council, Herefordshire Council, Telford and Wrekin Council and Worcestershire County Council); the Highways Agency; HM Courts Service – West Mercia; the two Fire & Rescue Services for Hereford & Worcester and Shropshire; and West Mercia Cluster of Primary Care Trusts.
