Shrewsbury Park and Ride Christmas special offers

Shropshire residents and visitors will be able to take the hassle out of shopping this Christmas with a number of special offers on Park and Ride in Shrewsbury (at Meole Brace, Harlescott and Oxon).

Getting into the Christmas spirit, a red Christmas Sleigh bus is operating on the service from Monday 5 November 2012 until Monday 24 December 2012.

From Monday 19 November until Monday 24 December, Park and Ride will only cost £1 return, with free all day parking.  A group ticket will also be available during this period, allowing up to five people to travel for only £2.50 after 9.30am Mondays to Fridays, and all day Saturday.

During late night shopping, from Wednesday 21 November until Wednesday 19 December, additional Park and Ride services will be operating until 9pm, and the service will be free from 4pm onwards.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for public transport, said:

“Shrewsbury is an ‘original one off’’, famed for its wide variety of independent shops. However, it also has comfortable indoor shopping centres with high street names as well as specialists.

“Our Christmas Park and Ride special offers give Shropshire residents and visitors an opportunity to save money while avoiding long queues and full car parks, taking the hassle out of shopping this Christmas.”

“We’re pleased to be part of the team to deliver a special addition to the Park & Ride fleet – our very own Santa Bus.  Operating from the different sites, our unique ‘Red Christmas Sleigh’ will take you into the town with a bit of festive cheer.

“Park and Ride buses take you into the heart of Shrewsbury to shop, to work or to catch up with friends; car-free, carefree – it’s much less fuss by bus.”
