Shrewsbury Library will be playing host to creative writers on Friday 9 November 2012 as part of National Novel-Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) this month.

The library will be open from 9.30am until 5pm, where people can have a look at the display of books on creative writing for inspiration.

There are plenty of spaces for people to think, write and plug in their laptops.

The library also has free public-use computers, but people should remember to bring a memory stick so that they can save their precious work.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for libraries, said:

“This Friday is a special National Write a Novel Day at Shrewsbury Library, but of course you can use the library as a place to write on any day – the surrounding books and the fascinating building will be sure to give you ideas on how to get started.”

Andrew Bannerman, local Shropshire Councillor for Quarry and Coton Hill, said:

“There is no shortage of people wanting to read novels, which is good news for budding writers.  Here is a chance to gain some inspiration and hone your technique.”

There is more inspiration at Shrewsbury Library this month with two author visits.  Crime writer Priscilla Masters talks about her Martha Gunn series, which is set in Shropshire, on Wednesday 14 November 2012 at 7.30pm.   And, author Paul Binding talks about the Scandinavia Crime phenomenon on Wednesday 28 November 2012 at 7.30pm.  Tickets for both events are available from the library priced at £3, to include refreshments, or contact 01743 255308 or shrewsbury.library@shropshire.gov.uk.
