How to win business from bigger businesses
“A new Social Value Act 2012” – a Cogs event – will take place at the Council Chamber, Shropshire Council, Shirehall, Shrewsbury on Friday 30 November 2012 at 2pm to 3.30pm.
As part of the procurement process, the public sector will have to take into account not just value for money (cost and quality) but also social, environmental and economic benefits to the local community.
Large businesses are also starting to incorporate these values into procurement as part of their corporate social responsibility, and will expect their supply chain to commit to the same values.
Consequently, businesses looking to tender for public contracts or win businesses from the private sector will need to demonstrate their commitment to bringing social, environmental and economic benefits to the local community as part of their delivery.
For example:
- A transport company that tenders for a contract to run a local bus route may also offer to provide added value through the additional delivery of a community dial-a-ride service.
- A housing management organisation that wins a contract to undertake property maintenance and repair work, may also offer to provide social value by promoting careers in construction and trades to local schools, and committing to employing young people.
The level of social benefit that businesses will need to demonstrate in bids will be proportional to the size and type of contract they are bidding for.
Businesses can increase their chances of winning lucrative public sector contracts by attending this event ,which will give them detailed information about what council procurement officers and large business will be looking for in your PQQ and tender applications.
