New website to help you find your way around Shropshire
A brand new website has been launched to help people find their way around Shropshire. The Travel Shropshire website www.travelshropshire.co.uk has been developed by Shropshire Council and provides everyone with the tools they need to find the best way to get from A to B.
Whether people plan to travel by bicycle, bus, train or car, the website provides vital information to help make their journey as easy as possible. It also offers advice for visitors on how to reach the Shropshire’s best attractions and lists upcoming transport walking and cycling events.
Highlights of the new website include:
- Detailed interactive maps showing the location of car and cycle parking, bus stops, rail stations, and cycle and walking routes
- Bus times search
- Live rail departure boards
- People can also sign up to receive the Cycle Shropshire discount card and get a discount at local cycling businesses.
The website has been developed through the Shropshire Sustainable Transport Project, which is part funded by the Department for Transport, to encourage use of sustainable transport and promote economic growth through tourism in the county.
Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for transport, said:
“The new Travel Shropshire website is a great resource for finding travel and transport information for Shropshire. We hope that it will help people to choose to make more journeys by bus, train, bicycle or on foot, and that it will encourage more visitors to Shropshire.”
