Get involved at Wem and Shawbury LJC

Local people are being encouraged to go along to their next Wem and Shawbury Local Joint Committee (LJC) and have their say about issues that affect them.  The meeting is on Thursday 11 October 2012 at Edinburgh House, New Street, Wem starting at 7pm. 

Councillor Brian Williams, Chairman of Wem and Shawbury LJC, said:

“We welcome local people to come along.  They will have the opportunity to discuss local issues and to hear presentations on the Shropshire Council of the future; how Shropshire Council are working to address flooding in the area; and the Shropshire Way, with the opportunity for local people to volunteer to help Wem gain Walkers are Welcome accreditation.”

The group has an annual budget of £30,520 to support local community initiatives.  To date, seven projects totalling £9,300 have been supported, and a further five will be considered at the meeting. 

The committee members are made up of representatives from Shropshire Council and the local town councils and parish councils from Clive, Grinshill, Hadnall, Loppington, Moreton Corbet and Lee Brockhurst, Myddle & Broughton, Shawbury, Stanton upon Hine Heath, Wem, Wem Rural, Weston under Redcastle and Whixall.
