A puppet show will be hosted by Shropshire Council’s Sure Start children’s centre and library services in Cleobury Mortimer to support the Marches Feast of Words and launch a new family drop-in group.

The Ugly Duckling, a production by the Sea Legs Puppet Company for families with young children, will be performed at the Market Hall Rooms, Cleobury Mortimer, on Monday 10 September from 2pm to 2.45pm.

The show is free to families who are Sure Start children’s centre members, and the event aims to raise awareness of a children’s centres family drop-in session that will start on Monday 17 September 2012 at the Market Hall Rooms, Cleobury Mortimer.

The family drop-in group will run every week on a Monday from 1pm to 3pm, and will offer the chance for families with young children to enjoy free fun activities, meet with their children’s centre support worker and find what services are on offer in the area.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for health and well-being, said:

“I hope families with young children enjoy the puppet show and come along to the new family drop-in group.

“The sessions give families a great opportunity to enjoy fun activities together, meet with other families, socialise and share experiences, as well as offer parents advice and information to support them and their child’s well-being.

“By providing new groups like this one, we can work to ensure that children’s centre services provide support that is needed, and convenient, to as many people as possible.”
