Get into Retail event in Oswestry
Oswestry Library’s Work Club is to host a special Get into Retail event on Friday 6 July 2012 so that people can find out more about the skills and qualities needed for retail work.
The event will take place at the library between 10.30 and 11.30am and there people will be able to talk to a representative from Sainsburys Oswestry.
Councillor Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for libraries, said:
“This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in working in the retail sector to find out more about this area of work.”
Coucillor Keith Barrow, Shropshire Council’s leader, added:
“I’d like to encourage people to come along to this event for the opportunity to gain some extremely useful advice about the retail sector.”
The work club holds fortnightly Friday morning events from 10.30am to 11.30am. Dates for future sessions are 20 July and 7 September.
People are reminded about all the other services at the library for those that are job hunting including; free computer use, help with CVs, help with online job, applications/email accounts, help with job searches, free half-hour IT help sessions and books about all aspects of job hunting or starting up a business.
Also, on the day local people will be able to look at the new my health library website.
‘My health library’ links to information about health practices, hospitals and support groups, as well as other health and social care services.
People can find out about health conditions and treatments, and do online checks on symptoms for their own wellbeing. Links are also made to Books on Prescription schemes, which are run by libraries with the support of the NHS.
One of the features of the site are YouTube clips which can be used to explore the services available.
This pilot project, funded by Arts Council England and the Society of Chief Librarians is being developed between Directgov and other national partners to create tools to help navigate around health information sources on the web. Shropshire Libraries and 13 other library authorities in the West Midlands region are working in partnership with NHS West Midlands and NHS Local.
