TV titles show Shropshire farm’s heavy horses

From among hundreds of iconic images of the Midlands, horses at Acton Scott Historic Working Farm now feature in the opening credits of the BBC’s regional news and current affairs programme, Midlands Today. 

A recent refreshing of the title sequence of the flagship show briefly sees two of the farm’s majestic shire horses, Joe and Charlie, setting off for a day’s work. 

Cecilia Motley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for rural affairs, which operates the well-known farm attraction, said:

“Inclusion of this snippet of the farm at work further confirms its status and popularity within the region.  Acton Scott Historic Working Farm is one of the gems of the Shropshire Hills and a primary tourism draw to the county.  I am delighted that the BBC has included the farm in the new Midlands Today titles.” 

Acton Scott Historic Working Farm is open Tuesday–Friday 10am–4.30pm, and at weekends and Bank Holidays from 10.30am–5pm.  It is closed on Mondays except Bank Holidays.  There is an excellent shop and café on site along with plenty of free parking.  For more information go to www.actonscottmuseum.com or follow us on Facebook and twitter.
