Party in the Park at Shrewsbury Quarry
Families are invited to enjoy a host of fun activities at the annual Party in the Park in Shrewsbury this week.
Shropshire Council’s Sure Start children’s centre services have organised the free event at The Quarry on Thursday 14 June 2012, from 10am to 2pm.
Bob, the Shropshire Play Bus, will be in The Quarry, and families will be able to try out activities around a Jubilee and Olympic theme – so come along in red, white and blue. Healthy snacks will be on offer and families are encouraged to bring along some lunch and have a picnic.
The day will also provide the opportunity for people to learn more about children’s centre services which offer support for families with young children.
The team who work in the local area will be on hand to answer questions about the services that children’s centres provide across Shrewsbury and in the surrounding areas.
Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for health and well-being, said:
“Our children’s centres provide a fantastic range of events and activities for young children and their families.
“Children’s centres play an important role in preparing children for school, helping parents in their role and improving health and well-being.
“I would encourage families to come along to The Quarry on Thursday to enjoy the day and find out more about what children’s centres can offer.”
Andrew Bannerman, Shropshire Councillor for Quarry and Coton Hill, added:
“The Quarry is for everyone to enjoy, so it’s appropriate that the council’s Sure Start children’s centres are organising this fun and informative event here on Thursday.
“I look forward to attending and will wear a red, white and blue ribbon in my hat in honour of the occasion.”
