What can I do about crowing cockerels? Can I use fireworks late at night?

These are just some of the day-to-day queries dealt with by Shropshire Council’s Neighbourhood Pollution team and the answers are being shared on the new Shropshire Pollution Control Facebook page.

The Neighbourhood Pollution team offers advice on all sorts of issues such as:

•noise nuisance

•smoke, dust and bonfires

•odour nuisance

•light nuisance

•drains and sewers

•insect nuisance

•filthy properties

The Facebook page has been set up as part of the team’s work to reduce neighbourhood pollution, its commitment to finding new ways to share information and advice and to encourage people to come forward with any ideas and suggestions to improve the service.

Councillor Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for environmental health, said:

“This is another way for people to seek information, and discuss issues and ideas, to ensure we are offering a good, responsive and cost effective service to protect the community.

“Whether it’s finding out more about the issues the team deals with or getting in contact with the team, we hope lots of people find it useful and enjoy using the page.”
