Latest drop-in advice session in Bishop’s Castle

Residents of Bishop’s Castle have the chance to get advice on a range of issues at the next community advice session on Tuesday 8 May 2012.  The event takes place between 11am and 12pm at the Grange Road residents meeting room in the town, and will be attended by Shropshire Council officers, police, housing association and fire service representatives, as well as Charlotte Barnes, local Shropshire Councillor for Bishop’s Castle. 

The drop-in session is a way for the public to get information about council services and housing issues without having to travel out of Bishop’s Castle.  They can also speak to the local policing team about any issues of concern that they have. 

8 May’s drop-in session will be the first to be held at Grange Road and is particularly aimed at people living in that area of Bishop’s Castle. 

Shropshire Council’s customer services team will be available to provide information about how to apply for or renew bus passes which are now coming up for renewal; information on waste collection and recycling services will also be available, and the public can report highways problems such as potholes, faulty streetlights or street cleansing issues.  Local Shropshire Councillor Charlotte Barnes will in attendance to speak to local residents about any problems or issues they would like her advice on. 

Mathew Mead, Shropshire Council’s community action officer for Bishop’s Castle, said:-

“This event is being held at Grange Road, in partnership with South Shropshire Housing Association.  We hope residents from Grange Road and the surrounding area will come in and see us during the morning, and meet the staff that provide services in the town.  Even if you don’t have any specific questions for us please come in and say hello.  We’ll look forward to meeting you.” 

Further events are planned throughout the year and are designed to help people access information from local service providers more easily.
