Help us bring superfast broadband to Shropshire
The Connecting Shropshire campaign is working hard to improve broadband speeds across the county – and you can help make a crucial difference.
It is absolutely vital that we prove to the private sector that there is a high demand for superfast broadband in the county to ensure Shropshire has the best chance of securing millions of pounds worth of additional private investment.
We need as many people as possible to register their details by filling in this survey – you won’t be signing up for anything, it’s just giving an indication that people are interested in getting superfast broadband if it became available.
The more people that add their support, the more likely it is that Shropshire will get a big investment from the private sector to add to the commitment already made by Shropshire Council and the Government.
You can follow the progress of the campaign on twitter @ConnectingShrop and by logging onto the website – you can also download posters from the website to put on your local noticeboard, in your local shop or pub, or even your front window.
Martin Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for ICT, said:
“I cannot emphasise enough just how important it is that people take the time to fill in this survey. About 3,000 people have done it so far, which is great and I would like to thank everyone for their support, but we really need more.
“Time is running out, as we are meeting potential broadband providers next month, so we need a good level of support by the end of May 2012. It really will make a difference and potentially encourage more investment in Shropshire, so please give us just a few minutes of your time to do the survey.”
Volunteers from the Connecting Shropshire campaign will be out and about over the coming weeks, including the Shropshire County Show at the West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury on Saturday 26 May 2012, encouraging people to add their support and explaining the benefits that a good broadband service can bring.
