Grant sees Bridgnorth business expand

Despite the talk of recession and economic gloom, Bridgnorth Print Services are showing the confidence that they have in the local business community by investing in over £30,000 worth of new print machines.

This has been made possible with the help of a Business Enterprise Fund grant funded by the European Union.  The Business Enterprise Fund supports the growth or diversification of existing small and medium-sized businesses in Shropshire and is administered by Shropshire Council.

Richard Stilwell, Bridgnorth Print Services managing director, said:

“This is a real boost to us and has enabled us to invest in some of the latest high technology digital commercial print machines.

“We can offer an even more rapid response print service at lower prices to the local business community, organisations and individuals.  We have seen an amazing growth in sales and staff over the last 18 months, and we are now perfectly placed to expand even further.  With our new highly competitive and high-quality print facilities we have already attracted new orders.”

This investment has helped to secure local jobs, with the business already benefitting from a 30% increase in sales.

Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for economic growth and prosperity, said:

“Bridgnorth Print Services is the kind of company that we are pleased to support: they initially had a start-up grant through the original Business and Enterprise Fund, and now are expanding, demonstrating solid growth.”

The Shropshire and Herefordshire Business Enterprise Fund has £1.1m to support new and existing businesses within the two local administrative areas.

Grants are available of up to £1,500 for new and young businesses under nine months and £5,000 for more established businesses.

Due to European regulations, there are restrictions on the type of businesses that can apply.  Ineligible sectors include retail and land-based; however, tourism businesses that are not part of a working farm business are able to be supported.  To find out more about the support on offer, people can contact Shropshire Council on 01743 252596 or visit shropshire.gov.uk/sbef.
