Changes to waste and recycling collections this Easter
Shropshire Council and its waste management contractor Veolia Environmental Services (UK) Ltd are reminding residents about important changes to waste and recycling collections in the week beginning 9 April 2012 (Easter Monday).
Crews are working as normal on Good Friday (Friday 6 April 2012), so there will no changes to these collections.
However, no waste collections will take place on Easter Monday (Monday 9 April 2012), and throughout that week collections will take place a day later than normal.
Therefore the revised collection schedule for this week is as follows:
- Easter Monday, 9 April – collections will take place on Tuesday 10 April instead
- Tuesday 10 April – collections will take place on Wednesday 11 April instead
- Wednesday 11 April – collections will take place on Thursday 12 April instead
- Thursday 12 April – collections will take place on Friday 13 April instead
- Friday 13 April – collections will take place on Saturday 14 April instead
Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for waste management, said:
“Please remember that your waste collection day will change due to the Easter Bank Holidays. To check waste collection dates by postcode visit shropshire.gov.uk/binday.”
Donald Macphail, managing director of Veolia Shropshire, added:
“All of these day changes are clearly highlighted on the calendars we distribute, but we want to remind everyone that collections will be a day later than usual. If in doubt double check your calendar or visit shropshire.gov.uk/binday.”
Household Recycling Centres are open as normal over this period, that is from 9am to 7pm Mondays to Fridays and 9am to 6pm on weekends and Bank Holidays.
