Shropshire Council will start work next week (Monday 12 March 2012) to re-lay some of the sunken bricks along the Bull Ring in Ludlow.

This essential work, which is expected to take around two days to complete, will mean that King Street will need to be closed to all through traffic during this time.

Councillor Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for highways maintenance, said:

“I’d like to apologise in advance for any disruption this work may cause.  Unfortunately, to carry this out safely, we’ll need to close King Street to through traffic.  However, we hope people and businesses will understand that this work is essential as the sunken bricks have caused the road surface to be uneven.”

Rosanna Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow North, said:

“We know that any closure of King Street is inconvenient, but we have made sure that the work is carried out before the Easter holidays and the Ludlow Festival season begins.”

Access will be maintained for emergency services at all times in all parts of the street.
