A feast of Easter activities at Shropshire’s favourite farm

Easter weekend at Acton Scott Historic Working Farm sees a range of additional activities and seasonal happenings from Friday 6 April 2012 to Monday 9 April 2012. 

Throughout the weekend there will be Easter trails, hands-on crafts to try out and, of course, the new young animals on the farm to enjoy. 

Run by Shropshire Council’s visitor economy team, the nationally-known farm attraction will also be tempting visitors with freshly-baked hot cross buns made by the Bailiff’s wife on Good Friday (6 April 2012). 

Another activity is an egg and spoon challenge running on 6 April and 7 April that visitors can try their hand at.  On Sunday 8 April and Monday 9 April 2012, Easter egg hunts for 4- to 10-year-olds will run each morning and afternoon. 

Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for tourism and culture, said:-

“Acton Scott Historic Working Farm has so many family activities to enjoy.  The subtle smells of spices and baking from the farm’s cottage kitchen on Good Friday should be enough to tempt visitors old and young alike to try the delicious hot cross buns.” 

Cecilia Motley, local Shropshire Councillor for Corvedale, which includes the parish of Acton Scott, added:-

“Acton Scott Historic Working Farm’s Easter programme combines the opportunity to meet new additions to its rare breed stock with plenty of activities to have a go at – it’s a must for local families or visitors to the county.” 

Amongst many events, Acton Scott Historic Working Farm has further special events planned for the early May Bank Holiday weekend, the Diamond Jubilee and harvest. 

Acton Scott Historic Working Farm is open from Tuesday 3 April 2012 to Sunday 4 November 2012, Tuesdays to Fridays 10am – 4.30pm; Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays 10.30am – 5pm.  The farm is closed on Mondays except Bank Holidays.   There is a shop and excellent café and plenty of free parking.  For more info go to www.actonscottmuseum.com , call 0345 678 9024 and follow us on Facebook and twitter.
