Spring celebration in Cheswardine

Related topics: Community

A spring celebration will be held at Cheswardine Village Hall for families with children under five to enjoy a range of activities and find out more about the support Shropshire Council’s Sure Start children’s centre services can offer.

The event will take place at the village hall in Podmore Road on Tuesday 14 February 2012, from 10am to 12 noon.

Parents can seek information and advice from children’s centre support workers about children’s centre membership and the other groups and services available in their local area.  The activities will include Valentine’s Day crafts, and story and rhymetime.  Healthy snacks and cold drinks will be provided during the celebration.  Older siblings are welcome to come along with their families.

Children’s centres offer services and support for families with children under five years old across the county, including early years services, child and family health services, and support for children with additional needs.

Councillor Ann Hartley, Cabinet member for health and well-being, said:

“Children’s centre services help children aged under five and their families to benefit from high-quality health, care and education support.  Children’s centres provide opportunities to enjoy fun activities which support children’s learning, development and encourage healthy lifestyles, meet with other parents, socialise and share experiences, as well as gain advice and information to support parents and children’s well-being.

“We would urge families with young children to come along to the spring celebration.  It is set to be a great morning and is a chance to find out more about what children’s centres can offer.”
